Question

“What sets your technicians and staff apart from a general auto shop?”

Answer from the Jamie's Transmission crew

Summary:

Jaden's answer centers on specialization. A general automotive shop works on a little bit of everything, including engines, water pumps, and anything at all related to the vehicle, which means they typically do not specialize in any one system. Jamie's Transmission Service specializes in drivetrain, and he states that drivetrain is all the shop does. He notes they handle a small amount of air conditioning and brake work here and there, but the focus is drivetrain, and that has been the case for almost 40 years. He then lists the scope of what drivetrain covers at the shop: transmissions, transfer cases, differentials, drivelines, U-joints, and wheel bearings. His closing point is that this is what they do and what they know, positioning depth of experience in one system as the differentiator.

Answer:

So what sets us apart is we're specialized in it. So this is all that we do. A general automotive shop, they do a little bit of everything. General automotive is going to be engines, water pumps, anything to do with the vehicle at all. So they don't specialize in one thing typically. With us, we specialize in drivetrain. That's all that we do. We do a little bit of AC and a little bit of brakes here and there and stuff like that, but we specialize in drivetrain, and that's what we've been doing for almost 40 years. So transmissions, transfer cases, differentials, drivelines, U-joints, wheel bearings, anything with the drivetrain is what we do, and it's what we know. A general shop is covering the whole vehicle, so they're spread across everything. We're not. We see the same systems every single day, and that's been the case here for almost 40 years now. That's the difference.
